The Trump campaign has apologized after a video surfaced on social media showing the Republican presidential nominee discussing how he would “fight” President Barack Obama.
In the video, which has since been deleted, Trump is heard saying, “We’re going to fight very hard and we’re going, and we’ll have a big fight.”
Trump has repeatedly called Obama a weak leader, even after he was reelected, and has been critical of Obama since becoming president.
Trump has made similar comments in the past, including during a presidential debate in October 2016.
Trump is not the first Republican presidential candidate to suggest the Obama administration is weak, but it was the first time he suggested it was a bad thing.
Trump also said he would be willing to “fight hard” for his wife.
Trump was also criticized by several Republicans who criticized his remarks during the 2016 presidential race.
“I would fight very, very hard for my wife,” Trump said during the debate.
“And I’d do it to the hilt.”
On Wednesday, Trump made the same comments in an interview with the New York Times.
“There’s nobody that’s been tougher on me than Obama.
He’s the one that started the wars, he’s the leader of the world.
And he’s weak.
He doesn’t know what’s going on,” Trump told the Times.
The comments come as the presidential campaign enters its final stretch, with many polls showing Trump’s lead shrinking or closing as voters consider which of the candidates best represents their views.
The New York businessman’s comments have been met with criticism from Democrats, who say he’s pandering to white working-class voters who have voted for Trump.
Trump’s campaign has been trying to reassure voters that he will be an inclusive candidate.
He has also tried to counter criticism of his comments with his own.
“It’s just one of those things, you know, I think he’s a very good person, but I think people are so angry right now,” Trump’s son Eric told Fox News.
“People are sick and tired of hearing about my father’s words, which I think is pretty weak, frankly, about the president.”
Eric Trump has said his father has not used the term “weak” in reference to the president.
“My father has never used the word ‘weak,'” Eric Trump said in an October 2016 interview with CNN.
“That’s not what he said, and I don’t think that’s what he meant.
He said he’s strong, he said he was strong, and that’s the way he’s always been.”
