The NFL offseason is just around the corner and with that comes the release of their second-quarter preseason rankings.
Here’s the latest, in chronological order.1.
Cowboys, Cowboys, Patriots, Cowboys.
The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys have already clinched the NFC East and have the best record in the NFL, and while it’s possible they’ll be the best team in the league at the end of the season, it’s impossible to say that without taking a look at where they stand.
They were a combined 11-3 entering the season and have a chance to make a playoff push if they can get past the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons in the playoffs.2.
Titans, Seahawks, Packers, Titans.
The Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans are two of the best teams in the NFC West and it’s tough to imagine either team losing the division this year.
Seattle’s defense is a complete weapon in the running game, and it should be able to keep the Tennessee Titans to just 12 points or fewer through the air.3.
Rams, Dolphins, Patriots.
The Los Angeles Rams are a very tough team to play in this league and they have the ability to do so without the help of quarterback Jared Goff.
The Los Angeles Chargers have been one of the worst teams in football, but they can make the playoffs without Goff if they want to.4.
Lions, Browns, Titans, Titans again.
The Cleveland Browns have had a rough season in 2017.
They’ve been a total mess in terms of offense and are now down to the one player they’ve had for most of the year in quarterback Brian Hoyer.
The Cleveland Browns should make the postseason in a playoff-less year, but their defense should be a big reason for them not being in the playoff picture.5.
Bengals, Jaguars, Bears, Jaguars.
The Cincinnati Bengals have a great chance to go deep in the AFC North if they have any semblance of consistency.
The Cincinnati Bengals should be one of those teams that is in the top five in the conference, but this is a team that will have to prove they’re a top-five defense.6.
Colts, Rams, Browns.
The Indianapolis Colts are going to be the team to beat in the Western Conference and they’ll need to make up ground on the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Raiders to make it to the playoffs this season.
They’re in a similar position as the Rams in that they will be in the bottom five in points scored and yards per play.7.
Saints, Lions, Packers.
The Minnesota Vikings are one of several teams that should be in contention for the division title this season and they’re not going to have any problems in the division against any of the other teams in this division.8.
The Green Bay Packers are a great team in this NFL, but it’s hard to imagine them finishing with a top five finish if they lose quarterback Aaron Rodgers and he’s going to need a strong offseason to recover.9.
Ravens, Bengals, Browns and Titans.
Baltimore is in a unique position.
It’s a team with a history of winning in the Super Bowl and the Bengals are one that will be without quarterback Joe Flacco for the foreseeable future.
But it’s still a team in good shape and can win the division with an improved offense.10.
Texans, Steelers, Titans and Rams.
The Houston Texans are one win away from a top three finish and it will be interesting to see how this team adjusts to the change of coaching staff.
This is the first year that the Texans have lost their starting quarterback in Brock Osweiler and while the team will need to come up with a different offense this year to be competitive, there are a lot of similarities between Osweilers offense and what the New York Jets were able to do last season.11.
Cardinals, Lions and Bengals.
The Detroit Lions are a team I don’t think they’ll have the most trouble in the National Football League, but I don.
The Lions are going back to the top of the NFC North with the best defense in the game.12.
Seahawks, Titans with no quarterback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have had their ups and downs in 2017, but with their quarterback situation, it looks like they have a long way to go to make the playoff push this year, even with their new head coach Gus Bradley.13.
Chiefs, Chargers, Bengals with no QB.
The Kansas City Chiefs are going through a transition at quarterback, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going be easy.
The Chiefs offense has had issues getting the ball out to running backs and receivers, but the defense has been solid.
The offense will also be a little better under new head coaches Andy Reid and Matt Cassel.14.
Dolphins, Bengals and Jaguars with no running back.
The Miami Dolphins are going with a lot more play-action passing this year and they’ve been able to run a lot.
The Bengals will be able help their offense
