Bruges is the capital of Belgium, and its cuisine is a mixture of classic and contemporary.
From classic Belgian cuisine, to a range of new creations, you’ll find plenty to love here.
We visited three of the city’s best eateries to find out which are worth a visit.
Cans Cans is the oldest restaurant in the city, established in the 16th century and currently serving dishes from the city of Brugges.
Located on the left-hand side of the square, it is a well-known bar, but there is a cafe on the top floor and a café on the lower one, serving drinks and sandwiches.
The menu includes traditional Belgian dishes and local dishes, such as lamb and mushroom curry.
The food is also well prepared, and it’s a good place to try the famous Belgian wine, Cappuccino.
A good selection of local beers are available on tap, including a couple of bottles of Black Label.
It’s also a good idea to check out the wine-making workshops in the nearby village of Ville.
For those who like to eat out, there are some great restaurants offering a variety of dishes, from traditional Belgian fare to some modern creations.
For a little something extra, check out one of the many vegan options.
In the past few years, the city has been taking on the role of the new capital of Europe, with the Brugues Vegetarian Restaurant taking over the former Royal Brugs Hotel, which once housed the Brouwers department store.
A new boutique restaurant, Cafe Bruggen, opened on the same street, but its menu is a little different, including vegetarian options.
The Bruggerie restaurant is located on the third floor of the hotel, and serves a great menu, including soups and salads, burgers, salads, sandwiches, pasta and a vegetarian dish.
A cafe in the area of the old Royal Brouwer is also open, but it’s more of a café than a restaurant, serving a good selection.
For lunch, try one of their many sandwiches.
Burgers, salads and other dishes are available from a variety menu, but be prepared to pay extra for the bread.
They are quite tasty, but the staff is always busy, so don’t expect to sit down to one of them all day.
It might be better to take a break from the busyness and head over to the other side of town.
You’ll find a lot of options here, with some great food to choose from, and you can also try their wine.
The cafe is located a little further down the street, and also offers a good range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, but their vegan menu is not available.
A vegan meal at the Bolognese restaurant is just a few steps away, but you can easily head there to try their famous cheesesteak and pastrami sandwiches.
For dessert, try their chocolate bar, and their cheesecake.
